Floodplain Mapping

Effective February 5, 2024 The Village of Salem Lakes Board adopted ordinance 2024-02.75 which repealed and recreated section 490-45 of the general zoning and shoreland/floodplain zoning ordinance.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) in conjunction with FEMA updated the Kenosha County Flood Insurance Study. These maps were adopted on April 11, 2024.

The FEMA Flood Map Service Center (MSC) is the official public source for flood hazard information produced in support of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Use the MSC to find your official flood map, access a range of other flood hazard products, and take advantage of tools for better understanding flood risk.

FEMA flood maps are continually updated through a variety of processes.  For additional information, please see the Flood Hazard Mapping Updates Overview Fact Sheet
