2026 ROAD PROJECTS UPDATE
The Village of Salem Lakes have begun construction on the 2026 Street & Utilities Improvement Program.
The Improvement Program work includes:
- Rout & crack sealing of roads to improve the longevity of pavement structure at various locations (see Project Summary Map).
- Paving rehabilitation work of various segments of roadways (see Project Summary Map).
- Rehabilitation of drainage systems within the roadways designated for repaving.
The following are segments of roads that will be part of the 2026 Street Improvement Program:
E. Lake Street (Railroad to CTH B)
This segment will undergo full roadway reconstruction, including:
- Removal and replacement of deteriorating drainage systems
- Replacement of sidewalks, curb & gutter, and driveway aprons
- Installation of improved curb ramps
- Complete rebuild of the
roadway to meet Village standards
Traffic Impact:
- Road will be closed during construction
- Business access will be maintained
W. North Street (West of the Railroad)
Work will include:
- Replacement of deteriorating drainage systems
- Roadway rehabilitation consisting of:
- Base Repair & asphalt binder patches
- Asphalt leveling course
- Final surface course
S. 2nd Street (E. Lake Street to E. Park Street), E. Park Street (S. 2nd Street to S. 1st Street), N. 3rd Street (E. Northwater Street to E. North Street)
Work will include roadway rehabilitation consisting of:
- Base Repair & asphalt binder patches
- Milling (removal) of the top layer of deteriorating asphalt
- Placement of a new asphalt surface course
Tentative Project Schedule (weather dependent):
- Rout & Crack Sealing work – May 2026 (Completed)
- E. Lake Street work – July & August 2026
- All remaining street work – August – September 2026.
Important sequencing note: No work can begin on S. 2nd Street or E. Park Street until E. Lake Street is reopened to traffic.
