What Is A Resolution?
Resolutions adopted by the Village Board commonly deal with matters of a special nature or are temporary in character. Generally they are not as formal as an ordinance. Resolutions seldom (if ever) contain penalties and are the most common form of legislation used by a governing body to deal with special issues not affecting the general public. They are commonly used for expressing opinions of a board, granting special privileges, or communicating with other governmental units such as other municipalities, state departments and other agencies.
