Municipal Court Wedding Vow # 9

MARRIAGE CEREMONY #9

Who amongst this assemblage gives this woman to this man?

Friends, we are gathered here to witness and to celebrate the marriage of _________________ and

______________________.

Marriage is the deepest and most complete commitment that two people can make to each other. It is a promise to forever share with one another. A firm and unshakable vow to live life together as long as life persists.

The day of the ceremony is not the time such a commitment is made. In the case of _____________ and

_________________ the decision to wed was made long before today. I am sure that ____________ and

_________________ made this decision with great thought under circumstances far more intimate than these surroundings. Perhaps even they can not say exactly when it became inevitable that they would join their lives together in matrimony. The decision was made in their hearts long before any promise crossed their lips.

The purpose of a ceremony is to publicly declare this decision and to exchange those vows already made privately. You have been invited to witness this declaration. You are their closest friends and their family.

It is natural that _______________ and ___________________ should want to share with you the great joy that they feel in their love for one another.

As __________________ and ____________________’s family and most trusted friends you have helped to shape them. You have helped them to overcome life’s various obstacles and have given them strength. They ask you to recognize them today as a new family and to offer them this same support, friendship and guidance as they embark on life’s continued journeys from this day forward together.

_____________________ and ______________________ PLEASE JOIN HANDS

This ceremony is a public display of your trust in each other and your commitments to each other. You have come here freely and willingly and I charge you both as you make this commitment to remember:

IF you can love without clutching
Appreciate each other without judging
Invite without demanding
Ask without pleading
Join without invading
And criticize without blaming

Your lives together will truly be richer in having the love, companionship and respect of each other.

Marriage is the deepest and most complete commitment that two individuals can make. It is a promise to share forever, in one another’s dreams for the future and in the joys or sorrows of the present. It is a firm and unshakeable vow to live life together as long as life persists.

Marriage is the symbol of a loving union of two, who strive to become one, yet never lose their separate identities. Within this bond, you will enhance each other’s individuality but will become one heart and mind.

Knowing what you are about to undertake are both of you ready to join your lives in marriage?
