216th AVE CLOSURE

During the heavy rainfall events in April, the culvert located under 216th Avenue, approximately 200 feet south of STH ‘50’, began to fail. Both shoulders of the roadway experienced significant collapse. As a safety precaution, the roadway was fully closed to prevent vehicles from bypassing barricades and traveling over the temporary steel plating. At this time, the full extent of any undermining beneath the roadway has not yet been determined but the required WDNR permit for the project has been obtained.

The Village of Salem Lakes Board approved replacement of the culvert on May 19th, and the Village of Bristol Board approved the project on May 11th. The anticipated lead time for delivery of the culvert is approximately five weeks, with project completion anticipated within six weeks.
